Local man charged with soliciting 11-year-old girl over Internet

A Russellville man stood in front of a Franklin County judge Monday awaiting arrangements for his extradition to Fairmont, W. Va., where he will face solicitation of a child by computer charges.

Russellville Police Chief Chris Hargett said Gary Ethan Mann, 49, 1311 Hayes Ave., Russellville is charged with being a fugitive from justice and accused of using the Internet and a cell phone to make sexual advances towards an 11-year-old girl in West Virginia.

Reports indicate Mann posed as a 15-year-old Florence High School student and contacted the child through the website MileyWorld.com on Dec. 31.

Franklin County Courthouse officials said the girl claimed to be 13-years-old at the time of the incident.

Investigators said Mann allegedly told the child he wanted to have sex with her on numerous occasions.

Hargett said Mann was arrested at his residence on Monday after they received a warrant from Fairmont, W. Va.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation is also investigating the case.

Mann is currently being held in the Russellville City Jail awaiting his extradition.
