Meth bust sends five to jail

A search warrant at a county residence on Thursday netted five meth-related arrests, Franklin County Sheriff Shannon Oliver said.

Arrested on Thursday were: Jimmy Douglass Roberts, 29, 1624 Franklin 48, Russellville, charged with two counts of first-degree attempted manufacturing; Teresa Sue Brewer, 32, 1624 Franklin 48, Russellville, charged with two counts of first-degree attempted manufacturing and one count of second-degree attempted manufacturing; James Brewer, 59, 1624 Franklin 48, Russellville, charged with first-degree attempted manufacturing; Nathan Chase Baker, 22, 1536 Franklin 48, Russellville, charged with two counts of first-degree attempted manufacturing; and Garry Blankenship, 55, 110 Zollie Barnes Rd., Russellville, charged with first-degree attempted manufacturing.

According to Oliver, officers with the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office and the Alabama Bureau of Investigation executed a search warrant Thursday at 1624 Franklin 48 in Russellville where they found chemicals in and around the residence that had either already been used or were being used to manufacture methamphetamine.

Officers said Roberts, Teresa Brewer, James Brewer and Baker were all arrested at the residence.

Oliver said the investigation at the Franklin 48 residence led to the discovery of additional chemicals used to manufacture methamphetamine as well as a meth lab at the residence directly behind the house at 110 Zollie Barnes Rd.

Officers arrested Blankenship at this residence for his involvement in the lab.

Roberts, Baker and Blankenship remain in custody at the Franklin County Jail with bonds of $7,500, $5,000 and $5,000 respectively.

James Brewer was released on a $5,000 bond. Teresa Brewer posted her $10,000 bond but was transported to Walker County to face a bond condition violation there.
