14 and Under game called after two innings

MUSCLE SHOALS —The Russellville 14 and Under All-Stars were set to take on Colbert Heights at Muscle Shoals SportsPlex Thursday night.

The two teams face off late that night in the tournament championship, but Mother Nature would dictate the action soon thereafter.

Colbert Heights scored a single run in the bottom of the second to take a 1-0 lead. Russellville would not have a chance to answer, because lightning in the area forced tournament officials to pause the game.

The two teams were brought up into the press box while the weather situation was sorted out.

The weather report was not conducive to continuing the game, and tournament overseer Tony Hubbard called off the match entirely just before 11:30 p.m. after a lengthy wait.

The game will resume at 6 p.m. today at the SportsPlex.
