Library hosts author Alexis Rhae
In honor of National Library Week, which this year is April 9-15, the Russellville Public Library is hosting a special guest author event.
April 12, Christian fiction author Alexis Rhae will visit the library to talk about her book, “The Wonderful Professor Wolgath.”
Rhae, 29, a North Alabama native, said she hopes, through her writing, to encourage people who might be dealing with different life issues. She said she thinks library events such as this are a great way to share with people and encourage them to read.
“I always want to share my story. I always want to share about the projects I have going on,” Rhae said. “I think reading is very important, and it’s important to get people to the library to see what’s going on,”
On her website, Rhae describes the story of “The Wonderful Professor Wolgath” as “the tale of one man’s journey across an ocean and the friends and family that help him all along the way” – a story, she adds, “of hope in spite of frightening predicaments and love that surpasses Professor Wolgath’s humble imaginings.”
The special event, which is planned from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 12, was conceived by library board member Cheri McCain, who heard Rhae speak at a previous event.
“She is very interesting, talking about how she got started writing,” McCain said. “She has some interesting stories to tell.”
Library director Ashley Cummins said she hopes Rhae is one of many local authors the RPL hopes to host in the coming months.
“We’re just excited to have a local author who’s interested in what’s going on at the library,” Cummins said.
In addition to discussing and selling copies of “The Wonderful Professor Wolgath, Rhae will also have copies of “Completed,” a Christian CD by songwriter Terry Frank that she helped produce.
Rhae’s two other Christian fiction novels are “Thief of the Gallows” and “Sweet Nothings.”
Library events, Rhae said, are a help to the author as well as the library and its patrons.
“I think it helps encourage people to get into reading and find books they wouldn’t normally find,” she said.
