Doe’s comes to Russellville

High-quality food and a one-of-a-kind experience are what general manager Seth Roark said he wants to serve up to the people of Franklin County and the surrounding areas with Doe’s Eat Place.

Located in the old The Bricks Restaurant building in downtown Russellville, Doe’s Eat Place is across the street from MS Industries – which is convenient for MSI CEO Steven Smith, who bought the restaurant building and decided to open a Doe’s in the space.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity to be a part of this. It’s an awesome thing Steve’s doing,” Roark said.

According to Smith, the restaurant is another part of his investment into the City of Russellville. Smith said the restaurant will be another way to promote economic growth from within and without the community.

“I’m driven to not only keep money in the community but to also bring money in from other areas by making this a true destination restaurant,” Roark said.

This will be the first Doe’s Eat Place located in Alabama. The menu will boast classic steakhouse staples like steak, potatoes and drop biscuits, but Doe’s also added a couple of different items, like alfredo and collard greens, to the menu.

Roark and his staff will be making their own sauces and dressings and cutting their own meat, which Roark said has been brought in from out of the region. The restaurant even has its own separate meat cutting area.

Doe’s will be keeping the original structure of The Bricks, but the décor has changed. Framed movie and celebrity posters line the walls from classics like Gone with the Wind and the Rocky movie series. The upstairs hotel portion of the building is being renovated and will most likely not be finished until after the restaurant is open.

“We’re not going to open until we have everything 100 percent the way we want it. We want people to know that we’re here to stay and that this is something special,” Roark said.

While there is no official open date set, Roark said he is hopeful everything will be ready by October.
