Celebrate locally with Small Business Saturday

By Ann Epperson McDermitt, Executive Director of Russellville Main Street, and Cassie L. Medley, Executive Director of the Franklin County Chamber of Commerce

Welcome to the beating heart of our community — our local small businesses. As executive directors of Russellville Main Street and the Franklin County Chamber of Commerce, we’ve seen firsthand the impact these businesses have on our county.

These are the businesses which show up to support our local schools and community efforts. Now, as the holiday season approaches, we invite you to join us in supporting our local entrepreneurs on Small Business Saturday, Nov. 25, and throughout the holiday season.

Local small businesses are the backbone of our community, and they represent hard work, dreams and the spirit that defines us. It’s more than a date on the calendar; it’s a chance for each of us to contribute to the vitality of our community.

Let’s make this day a celebration of unity and entrepreneurship supporting our community’s growth one purchase at a time. Save yourself time and gas money by shopping at our local businesses first. Join us in embracing the spirit of community on Small Business Saturday.

10 Ways to celebrate small businesses during the holiday season:

1. Shop small businesses for groceries to make your legendary holiday recipes.
2. Shop small businesses for birthday, anniversary and Christmas gifts that are thoughtful and unique.
3. Shop small businesses when dining out before or after a holiday performance or parade.
4. Shop small businesses for vehicle maintenance and fueling up before your trip to see family.
5. Shop small businesses for Christmas decorations that will lift your spirit.
6. Shop small businesses when planning Christmas parties and impromptu gatherings.
7. Shop small businesses when clothing your family during the season.
8. Shop small businesses, barber shops, hair and nail salons to feel your best and prepare for a new year.
9. Shop small businesses when renovating and organizing your home/office to purchase furniture and decor.
10. Shop small businesses for your personal and business accounting needs because good advice comes from someone who understands your local needs.
11. Shop small businesses for auto, home, business and life insurance to protect you and those you love.
