For the second time in a week, an attentive eyewitness and quick police work resulted in an arrest minutes after a robbery.
The incident occurred about 12:30 p.m. Sunday at a BP gas station in the College Park area.
Police charged Felipe Aguilar, 27, of 432 Lee St., with armed robbery. Aguilar remained in the Lauderdale County jail today on $25,000 bond.
Detective Deano Harper of the Meridian Police Department said Aguilar allegedly brandished a knife as he robbed the BP, and then fled with an undisclosed amount of money.
It was the second time in a week a witness has helped police make a robbery arrest.
On Tuesday, Meridian police captured three men who allegedly robbed Great Southern National Bank in Bonita. A witness got the tag number of the getaway vehicle and reported it to the police. The police used the tag number to spot the suspects and made the arrest minutes after the robbery.
