Foy James Guinn

Foy James Guinn, 80, passed away at his home in Hodges.

He was born in Belgreen Oct. 31, 1935. He attended Dempsey School and graduated from Belgreen High School in 1955, where he excelled in varsity basketball. He was married to Faye Hindman for 55 years and was employed by U.S. Reduction in Russellville for over 25 years.  He was a member of New Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Hodges. He enjoyed gardening, farming, Alabama football, watching high school basketball and spending time with family, especially his grandchildren.

Services were June 11 at 4 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel, Red Bay, with Bro. Tony Wood officiating. Burial was at Old Line Cemetery in Hodges.

He is survived by his wife, Faye Hindman Guinn; daughters, Celia Sylvester and husband Don, Florence, and Neita Fannin and husband Aubrey, Huntsville; one son, Tim Guinn and wife Sandy, Russellville; grandsons, Michael Calvo and wife Nicole, Springfield, Tenn., Andrew and Avery Guinn, Russellville; one granddaughter, Chloe Fannin, Huntsville; and one great-grandson, Tristen Calvo, Springfield, Tenn. He leaves behind one brother, Gillie Guinn and wife Zula Mae, Belgreen, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Miner Matthew and Nancy Safrona Guinn, and four brothers, O. C., Troy, Voil and Orville Guinn.

Pallbearers were fellow church members.

Visitation was June 11at Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay.
