Crushing Cherokee

The Red Bay Tigers had an easy warm-up for the playoffs by crushing the Cherokee Indians 40-14 Friday night. The Tigers scored 40 unanswered points before allowing two late scores by the Indians en route to the win.

Red Bay will travel to Cleveland for their first-round playoff game Friday night.

The Tigers blanked the Indians 21-0 in the first quarter. Andrew Ray scored on a one-yard run with 6:21 to go in the first quarter. Kaleb Burroughs scored on a 69-yard touchdown pass from Kolby Bragwell with 4:07 to go. Andrew Richardson closed out Red Bay’s first quarter scoring with a 70-yard touchdown run.

The Tigers’ lone second quarter score came with just over one minute to go in the half on a 70-yard touchdown pass from Bragwell to Kelly to give Red Bay a 28-0 halftime lead.

Aeron Lewey scored twice for the Tigers in the second half. In the third quarter he scored on a 2-yard run. In the fourth quarter he capped off Red Bay’s scoring with a 51-yard run.

Andrew Richardson had six carries for 94 yards and a touchdown. He also caught two passes for 91 yards and a touchdown. Richardson also hauled in an interception and had 12 tackles for the Tigers defense.

Bragwell finished the game 5 for 13 passing for 130 yards and a touchdown.

Lewey carried the ball 14 times for 109 yards and two touchdowns.
