Fletcher Troy Kirby

Fletcher Troy Kirby, age 86, Russellville, passed away Jan. 14 at Lakeland Community Hospital.

Bro. Kirby was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a devout Christian, a Church of God minister and a good friend to all who knew him. He never met a stranger, and everyone who knew him, loved him.

The visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Jan. 16 at Spry Memorial Chapel. The funeral will be at noon Jan. 17 at Russellville Church of God, with the body lying in state one hour prior to the service. Officiating will be the Rev. George Sansbury and the Rev. Nick McSpadden. Burial will be at Johnson’s Chapel Cemetery in Danville.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Evelyn Virginia Kirby; his parents, Fletcher and Geneva Kirby; brother, Louis Kirby; and sister, Noma Lee Kirby Lawrence.

He leaves to cherish his memory his son, David Kirby and wife Sheron; daughters, Marcia Kirby McClellan and husband James and Rhonda Kirby Matthias and husband Tony; grandchildren, Kim Wood and husband Trexter, Kristie Greenhill and husband Michael, Zachary Kirby and wife Jessica and Maigan Matthias; great-grandchildren Arlye James and Xander Greenhill; Paislee James; brother Billy Kirby; sister, Jean Kirby; and a host of nieces and nephews.

The pallbearers will be Michael Greenhill, Gary Cummings, Mike Riley, Tom Grimes, Jeremy Kimbrough and Ryan Kirschbaum. Honorary pallbearer will be Xander Greenhill.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dad’s caretakers, Bessie Riley, Nell Pounders, Byron Gann and Jeremy Kimbrough for all of your love and care of our dad through this time. Also a special thanks to the 2nd and 3rd floor staff of Lakeland Community Hospital for your love and care of our family.
