Enterprise girls pick up a big win on the road

One win can make all the difference in the world and that may be the case for the Enterprise Lady Bulldogs, who upended Clarkdale by a final score of 45-37 Friday night.
The first quarter of action showed very little offense, but Enterprise held a 14-9 advantage.
Jerra Cook had six points in the first quarter of play for the visiting Lady Bulldogs. JorD'an Orr also had six points on two 3-pointers for Clarkdale.
The second quarter of action was as slow as the first, but Enterprise maintained the lead, 27-19, at the half.
The third quarter was looking like the same until Enterprise showed some spark.
Shonda Bester and Teela McBride opened up the quarter to build a big lead.
Naylor led a comeback for the homestanding Lady Bulldogs to cut the lead to 32-26 with 3:46 left in the third period. Enterprise increased its lead with a pair of baskets from Bester to make the score 36-26.
McBride also made a pair of shots as Enterprise had a 39-26 lead at the end of the quarter.
Naylor once again led Clarkdale on a comeback, but it would be silenced as Enterprise took a 45-37 win to improve to 5-22. Bester finished the game with 13 points and Cook pitched in with 12 in the rare win for Enterprise.
Naylor led Clarkdale with 13 points and Tamara Brown chipped in with eight in the loss.
Enterprise boys 62, Clarkdale 58: The nightcap had plenty of drama and excitement as Enterprise took a hard fought 62-58 win.
The contest was even until the final quarter of action. Enterprise opened the fourth quarter on a 5-0 run to take a 48-43 lead with 7:12 left in the game.
One basket came on a slam dunk by Corey Boggan to put some life into the visiting crowd. Richard Matthews quickly answered for Clarkdale with a pair of baskets to cut the Enterprise lead to 48-47 with 6:18 remaining in the game.
Mitchell Burns came right back with a 3-pointer for Enterprise to extend the lead to 51-47.
Matthews answered with a basket to make the score 52-50 with 5:06 left.
Boggan hit two more big shots for Enterprise with 3:19 left to give his team a 56-50 lead.
The game was tied at 58-58 with 25 seconds remaining, but Enterprise sealed the game when Bryan Bester came up with a nifty steal that set up a score by Burrell Gandy.
Enterprise added a pair of free throws by James Price to push the final margin to four.
Boggan poured in 26 points in the win for Enterprise and Bester added 10.
Matthews had 24 points for Clarkdale and Jamie Followay added 16 in the loss.
Enterprise improved to 11-15 with the win, and returns to action Monday when it travels to Northeast Lauderdale.
Clarkdale hosts Quitman next Friday.
