Homefolks U.S.A.

Hi folks,

Recently I read an article that stated how a person should live life today. Sixteen suggestions were made, and while most were very good, one of the points was to live in the present, look forward to the future and forget about the past.

I really believe we need to look for the good that we see now, and hope and pray that the future will be bright and happy, but we cannot forget about the past.

So much that has happened in the past has really prepared us for the future.

We should never forget the “Great Generation,” the men and women of that day who sacrificed so much so that we could remain free today. Many of our former leaders of our country left us with good advice and great laws that have made our country great. We see so many groups or individuals who are now trying to change these laws that have proven to be somewhat successful through the years.

Most people in this country attend a worship service every week, and we study about people who left us great examples to follow, and that has always proven to be successful. We also see people of the present who try to convince us that things should be changed about how we worship and when we worship; this is happening by those of the “present” generation, and so many times we see where they are making some progress in various parts of the world. This should not deter us in doing what is right.

We should stand for what we know to be right and not let the silent majority take the great lead in bringing our country to ruin.

So many in the big business world try every day to eliminate the small merchants, and this is becoming a reality in our county today. So many of the big businesses fail to offer the service the small merchants build their business on. As we look back, we see many of the big business world who are now becoming real failures themselves. They have failed to treat customers as they should, and they have failed to offer the service we know is needed so much in this day and time.

Many of the big businesses such as Woolworth’s, K-Mart, W.T Grant and Ben Franklin Stores have all gone by the wayside. Many of the big catalog stores have lost their zeal when it comes to customer service. It’s hard to get most people to say that Sears offered the best for less.

May we all appreciate the present and hope and pray that the future will be great, but let us never forget the people and the businesses that have offered service. May the future be bright for all.

A store here in Russellville had the perfect solution about service, and it was printed on the back of every sales ticket they wrote. The slogan said, “Be quick to kick if things go wrong, but kick to us and make it strong. To make things right gives us delight, if we are wrong and you are right.” Good advice from Mr. Thompson.

Til next time,

Your friend,

Bobby
