Red Bay sweeps area games
The Red Bay Tigers got a clean sweeps in area contests last week against Sulligent and Addison.
Red Bay versus Sulligent
In the varsity boys game, Colton Corum hit eight points in the first quarter to help the Tigers out to a 16-12 first-quarter lead. Red Bay steadily pulled away from Sulligent, outscoring the Blue Devils 17-7 to increase their lead to 33-19 at halftime and taking a 53-31 lead into the fourth quarter.
Corum led Red Bay with 17 points. He was followed by Braden Ray with 12 points. Arden Hamilton added 10 points. Gath Weatherford finished the game with nine points, Noah Brewer seven points, Tanner Hamilton seven points, Hunter Bays six points and Lane Shewbert six points.
In the varsity girls game, Red Bay jumped out to a 12-5 lead in the first quarter and extended that lead to 26-10 at halftime. The Tigers led 34-15 at the end of the third quarter.
Reagan Kuykendall led Red Bay with 19 points. Mallori Miller added nine points, Destiny McCollister four points, Kaylee Markham three points and Cassidy Kuykendall three points. Sarah Williams, Kylee James, Macy Faulkner and Lila Blackburn chipped in two points each.
In the B-varsity boys game, Red Bay beat Sulligent 42-38. Alex Kennedy had 11 points and Cam McKinney 10 points.
Red Bay versus Addison
At Addison, the Red Bay varsity boys tallied 20 or more points in each of the first three quarter en route to an easy 89-36 blowout win over the Bulldogs.
Red Bay led 29-16 at the end of the first quarter and 54-29 at halftime. The Tigers had extended the lead to 74-34 by the end of the third quarter.
Twelve Tigers hit the scoring column, with four in double figures. Shewbart led with 17 points. Clay Allison followed with 13 points. Alex Kennedy scored 11 points, and Corumn added 10 points. Weatherford and Ray added eight points each. Bays scored seven points, Jalen Vinson five points, Brewer four points, Dawson Wright three points, McKinney two points and Hamilton one point.
In the varsity girls game, Red Bay jumped out to a quick lead and dominated the Addison Bulldogs throughout, winning 52-30.
Red Bay led 12-5 at the end of the first quarter, and the Tigers extended their lead to 28-16 at halftime.
Miller led Red Bay with 16 points and was followed by McCollister with 11 points. Reagan Kuykendall added nine points, Blackburn six points, Faulkner five points, Makenzi Hester three points, Cassidy Kuykendall two points and Markham one point.
