Pre-K registration begins for next school year
Pre-K pre-registration has officially opened for the 2019-2020 school year for Franklin County Schools, and the school system is encouraging families to apply for the program.
“I believe our Alabama First Class Pre-K programs provide quality early learning experiences, which prepare our students for success in school and in life,” said Pre-K director Shea Miller.
Enrollment is open to all children who will be 4 years old on or before Sept. 1 who are residents of the state of Alabama. Enrollees must provide a copy of the child’s birth certificate and proof of residence, both of which may be submitted to the online pre-registration site or directly to the local school/program.
There might be zoning requirements that determine a child’s eligibility to attend a program at a particular school. Enrollees should contact the individual school to determine eligibility.
“Children’s academic development and social sense of belonging begin at an early age,” Miller said. “With emphasis on positive and age-appropriate skills, Pre-K promotes an appreciation for relationship-building and lifelong learning that could benefit our schools and communities for years to come.”
No registration fee is required for this program, but upon enrollment, a child’s immunization record must be provided.
All registration forms can be found at alprek.asapconnected.com.
Acceptance is determined by random selection, which will be held March 22 at 2 p.m. Parents and guardians do not have to be present for the drawing. Notices will be emailed out starting April 16.
