Phil Campbell shuts out Vina

Caitlynn Mills threw a shutout for the Phil Campbell Bobcats as they beat the Vina Red Devils 14-0. Phil Campbell put the game away in the bottom of the first with an 11-run inning.

Mills also stood out at the plate, going 3-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored.

Cypress Quinn and Caymen Quinn scored three runs each. Cypress Quinn had two hits, and Caymen Quinn tallied two RBIs.

Both Quinns, Mills and Jade Roberson all had doubles in the game.

Winfield 8, Phil Campbell 7

After making a big late-inning comeback, the Phil Campbell Bobcats couldn’t hold on, and the Winfield Pirates won the game on a walk-off single 8-7.

Trailing 6-3 going into the fifth and final inning of the game, Phil Campbell came up big with a four-run top of the fifth to take a 7-6 lead. Roberson got things started with an RBI-double to cut Winfield’s lead to 6-4. Katie Thomas scored on a squeeze bunt by Mills to make it 6-5. Roberson came around to score on a fielder’s choice to tie the game 6-6, and the Bobcats took the lead on an RBI-single by Kaci Harris scoring Mills.

Winfield, however, responded in the bottom half of the inning with two runs, including the walk-off single.

Cypress Quinn, Amber Ergle, Harris and Kenner Scott all had two hits each. Quinn, Thomas, Roberson, Mills, Harris and Scott all scored one run each. Scott also had two RBIs.

Five of the Bobcats’ 13 hits were doubles – those by Harris, Quinn, Scott and Roberson.

Phil Campbell made four costly errors in the game.

Emily Swinney went the distance for the Bobcats, giving up 11 hits and eight runs.
