Tharptown gets shutout, walk-off wins

Tharptown picked up two wins last week, defeating Vina 15-0 and Addison 5-4.

Olivia Ergle pitched a gem for the Tharptown Wildcats last week in the 15-0 route of Vina. She was close to a perfect game but had to settle for a no-hitter and shutout. Ergle struck out seven Vina batters and allowed one walk.

Brooke Daily led the Wildcats at the plate, going 3-for-3 with a double, four RBIs and two runs scored. Catie Dawson had a bases-clearing triple in the bottom of the third to score Macy Petree, Taylor Cameron and Olivia Darracott. Darracott scored three times; Shaylee Wieting had a double and scored three runs; and Madison Vandiver also scored two runs.

In the Addison game, Olivia Darracott knocked in the winning run on a sacrifice fly to centerfield, scoring Olivia Ergle.

The Wildcats had to come from behind in the eighth inning. Trailing 4-3, Brooke Daily scored on a fielder’s choice.

Tharptown got the win despite committing four fielding errors, which led to all of Addison’s runs.

Daily scored two runs for the Wildcats, and the Wildcats had RBIs by Wieting, Daily, Taylor Cameron and Darracott.

Cameron and Ergle both went to the circle for the Wildcats, with Ergle getting the win. Cameron struck out nine batters and allowed no earned runs and two hits. Ergle struck out four and allowed no earned runs and no hits.
