New businesses come to downtown Russellville
The downtown Russellville scene is expanding, as two businesses are expected to move in on Jackson Avenue in the upcoming months.
Russellville Florist and Gifts will be relocating from its current location on Highway 43 to the corner of Jackson Avenue and Lawrence Street.
“I have always wanted to move to a store in downtown, so whenever this one came up for purchase, it seemed like a great fit,” said owner of Russellville Florist and Gifts Chase Sparks.
The new location will open Aug. 3, and a grand opening ceremony is set to take place Aug. 7 at 6 p.m. with a ribbon cutting.
“We wanted to have a grand opening in the evening when it was a little cooler to give everyone a chance to come out and celebrate,” Sparks said.
In addition to Russellville Florist and Gifts moving to the stretch of Jackson Avenue between Lawrence Street and Franklin Street, downtown Russellville will add a Rollies.
Rollies, a popular ice cream store with its other location in Florence, features specialty rolled ice cream and Boba tea.
Rollies will be moving in beside Doe’s Eat Place. The opening date has not yet been decided but is anticipated to be within the next month.
Franklin County Chamber of Commerce Director Cassie Medley said it is great to see new business coming into downtown Russellville to continue to add to the shopping experience.
“The benefit of businesses in downtown is if someone is out eating at Doe’s, they can walk down to Russellville Florist for some gifts or they can stop by Rollies for ice cream,” Medley said. “It is all about businesses helping each other out, and in downtown, businesses are really able to help each other be successful.”
The current location of Russellville Florist and Gifts is currently only taking phone orders and doing curbside pickup while inventory is moved to the new location.
Sparks said he anticipates having to close for a week at the end of July to finish the move to the new location, but he does not know the exact details yet. Details concerning will be posted on the Russellville Florist and Gifts Facebook page.
