Clinic offers virus vaccine

A community COVID-19 vaccination clinic will be held June 11 from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the Russellville Parks & Recreation Department’s Chucky Mullins Center, 814 Hamilton St., Russellville.

According to the Alabama Department of Public Health, nearly 3 million vaccine doses have been administered thus far statewide, with 1.3 million having completed a vaccine series. For Franklin County, 16,567 doses have been administered, with 7,924 people completing the series.

Friday’s clinic will offer the one-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine for people ages 18 and older as well as the two-dose Pfizer vaccine for ages 12 years and older. Parental consent is required for 12- and 13-year-olds.

The following are partners for this clinic held in conjunction with the Franklin County Health Department: Russellville City Schools, Franklin County Alabama Democratic Executive Committee and the Alabama Coalition for Immigrant Justice.

In addition, both the single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine and the two-dose Moderna COVID-19 vaccine are available daily at the Franklin County Health Department, 801 Highway 48, Russellville. Walk-ins are welcome, and no appointments are required.

Since the onset of the pandemic, the ADPH reports 82 COVID deaths in Franklin County and 11,198 statewide, according to data provided through the ADPH COVID-19 online dashboard.

The vaccine is provided at no charge.
