PCHS JAG students compete at district

Phil Campbell High School students put their skills to the test when they competed March 1 in the Jobs for America’s Graduates North District Career Development Conference at the Shoals Marriott Conference Center.

“I took a group of 20 of our JAG students to the conference,” said PCHS JAG specialist Tina King. “We were notified in January that we would be transitioning to all new competitions. I am so proud of these students for jumping right in and taking the initiative. Not a single competition was the same, and they didn’t so much as blink.

“I even had a new student this semester that jumped in with both feet and competed,” King added. “Phil Campbell might not have placed in every division or even gotten first place, but I couldn’t be prouder of them even if they had.”

Ruby Torres placed second in Employability Skills. Izzy Pinkard, Kyle Perez and McKenzie Pounders placed fourth for Business Plan.

Among other students, Tammy Jackson competed in financial literacy, and Hannah King competed in career preparedness.

King said she has a wonderful group of students. “I am incredibly proud of every single one of them. I am blessed to be their JAG specialist.”
