A lineman for A&B Electric was transported to the Mississippi Firefighters Burn Center in Greenville Wednesday after suffering burns and other injuries when he came in contact with a high voltage power line.
Jeff Wright, 42, was taken to Rush Foundation Hospital after the mid-morning accident. He had surgery later in the day and was transported to Greenville where he is reported to be in serious but stable condition.
Wright was working in a bucket truck on 39th Avenue, near West End Harris School. The lines were hot, but were covered. How he came in contact with the wire was still under investigation, according to Anthony Wilson, division manager for Mississippi Power Co.
Co-workers called for help. Members of the Meridian Fire Department were the first on the scene. He was brought down by fellow workers and transported to Rush by Metro Ambulance.
A&B Electric is contracted to do conductor re-routes for Mississippi Power Co. in the area, Wilson said. The accident is under investigation.
