Lynda Abromeit, left, her daughter Shannon Crowe, and Crowe's daughter Sophia head to their vehicle after shopping Tuesday at the new Walgreens on 1415 24th Ave. at the corner of 14th Street.
Walgreens opened on Sunday; the official grand opening is planned for June 1. The store is one of at least two changes on 14th Street.
The round building that was part of the Medical Arts Surgical Group at 2111 14th St., on the corner of 22nd Avenue, has been demolished. The building will be replaced by a parking lot for Meridian Surgery Center, which will be a free-standing outpatient surgery center with six doctors, all equal owners, who perform general surgery. The doctors are: William A. Billups Jr., William A. Billups III, Bradley A. Boone, L. Brooks Gray, David A. Makey and Stephen W. Tartt. The 10,700-square-foot Meridian Surgery Center will house three operating rooms and a minor surgery room.
