The Meridian Civitan Club has chosen Wayne Wahrendorff as its "Citizen of the Year" for 2003. He received the award in April at a reception hosted by Civitan members.
Wahrendorff was nominated by the staff and volunteers of Lauderdale County Habitat for Humanity. Executive Director Fonda Rush wrote the nomination on behalf of the organization.
Wahrendorff's on-site specialty is finishing the cabinets, Rush wrote, and he takes a lot of pride in his work but keeps his sense of humility
In her letter, Rush also commended the men who make up Habitat's Construction Committee: Wahrendorff, Jack Lemmons, Bill Baldwin, Victor Simmons and John Henley.
