Volleyball, a popular sport in warm weather or while vacationing at the beach, will be a part of the State Games both this weekend and next.
Two-person competition will take place Saturday at Northwest Junior High, and four-person action will be held June 28 at Meridian High School. The competition will begin at 9 a.m. on both days.
Two-man competition is limited to two players, while six players are permitted on a team in four-person competition.
There will be three divisions (A, B and C) in four person competition. The division will be assigned according to number of teams entered.
A maximum of 24 teams can enter the State Games Volleyball competition. Each team is guaranteed six games, with USVBA rules in effect. Though there is a women's four-person division, the event is open gender, and all age groups are encouraged to enter. Scott Gray of Meridian will serve as Volleyball Commissioner.
