Elegant jewel thieves. International intrigue. A festive evening in Monte Carlo interrupted by murder most foul.
And all of it will be here in Meridian.
The Meridian Museum of Art is sponsoring a live murder mystery called "Without a Hitch" a fund-raiser that combines a gala dinner party, a staged performance and an interactive mystery audience members will help solve.
The play is set in the elegant and lavish Hotel d' Auteur in Monte Carlo.
August production
The event will be at Weidmann's Restaurant, with a special premiere performance Aug. 7 and a second performance Aug. 12. Tickets are $125 each for Aug. 7 and $75 each for Aug. 12; performances begin at 7 p.m. both nights.
The play is completely interactive. Action will take place in and around and at times will include the audience. At the end, guests will have a chance to solve the crime themselves.
Gourmet dinner
A gourmet meal will be served during the production.
On the menu: mesclun greens salad (with goat cheese and lemon garlic vinaigrette), roasted chicken, rosemary and garlic mashed potatoes, greens beans and porcini jus, and vanilla bean crme brule.
The meal will be accompanied by Weidmann's fine wines. All money raised by the event will help support MMA's art classes, exhibits and special events throughout the year.
Heder added that the museum is still recruiting sponsors for the mystery, and that the benefits for such support are important. Additional information on sponsorship can be obtained by contacting the museum.
