Haley Barbour, viewed by many as the front-runner in today's Republican primary for governor, stopped in Meridian on Monday to urge party members to vote.
Barbour's campaign stops Monday also included DeSoto County, Columbus, Biloxi and Hattiesburg.
Barbour, a former Republican National Committee chairman, faces Mitch Tyner, a Madison attorney, in today's primary. The winner will meet the Democratic nominee, expected to be Gov. Ronnie Musgrove, and three others in the November general election.
When Barbour was asked if he plans any outreach to Tyner supporters after today's primary, the longtime Republican said he will focus more on attracting Democrats and independents.
Barbour said he will continue campaigning today.
He said he will campaign door-to-door through parts of Hinds, Rankin and Madison counties today, followed by another television interview.
