Radio station AM-670 WYLS is entering its second month of broadcasting in a new music direction.
Playing "Great American Music," the station's music menu includes big band, blues, bluegrass, gospel, country, western swing, pop and easy listening music.
The station will air the next installment of the radio special, "Remember When," the 157th chapter, on Friday from 10 a.m.-1 p.m., according to Carl Fitzgerald, who created the show in 1983 and produces it. The program will present "The Steel Story," with special guest Tommy Dulaney, CEO of Structural Steel Services Inc.
Other memorable features on Friday's program will be "Eighth Street Memories," and some Meridian "Radio History." Noel Adcock will be guest co-host, Fitzgerald said.
Fitzgerald and Adcock joined the late Barney Grant's WYLS AM 670, on Aug. 1, and with longtime WYLS personality Tim Craddock, the 33-year-old station created a new music format for its listeners from studios in Meridian and York, Ala.
WYLS operates on AM-670 with 5,000 watts of daytime power. The request lines for WYLS are (205) 392-5234 (York) and 693-2345 (Meridian) The "Great American Music" format can be heard Monday-Friday from 7 a.m.-4 p.m.
