Mr. and Mrs. John Gary Riley of Quitman announce the engagement of their daughter, Courtney Elizabeth, to John Richard Nelson II, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Richard Nelson of Bailey, and Mary Ann Nelson of Carthage.
The wedding will be Saturday, Oct. 18, 2003, at 5 p.m. at Clarkco State Park's Outdoor Amphitheater in Quitman.
Miss Riley is the granddaughter of Dorothy Lightsey Waller of Shubuta and the late Thomas Nelson Waller, and the late Mr. and Mrs. William Dedwylder Riley of Quitman.
The bride-elect is a graduate of Clarkdale Attendance Center and Meridian Community College. She received a bachelor's degree in elementary education from Mississippi State University and is pursuing a master's degree in advanced studies in teaching and learning from the University of Memphis. She is also working on her national board certification.
Miss Riley is employed as a teacher with the Memphis City Schools.
Mr. Nelson is the grandson of Johnnie Landrum Reece of Meridian, Helen Marie Zawacki of Manistee, Mich., and the late Henry Zawacki.
The bridegroom-elect is a graduate of West Lauderdale High School and Meridian Community College. He attended Mississippi State University. Mr. Nelson is employed as a manager with Ryan's Inc.
A reception will be held at Clarkco following the ceremony.
Family and friends are invited to attend.
