SCOOBA East Mississippi Community College may very well be lining up for its most important regular-season football game of the year on Saturday.
The Lions (2-3) will be attempting to snap a two-game losing streak against the Holmes Community College Bulldogs (0-5) in EMCC's homecoming game.
EMCC will be trying to even its record with a banged up squad.
The Lions lost kicker Will Moseley for the year with a broken collar bone, and standout linebacker Renuel Green was just recently released from the hospital after a spider bite on his leg became infected.
EMCC defensive tackles Chancey Brown and Ricky Mims haven't practiced this week, and are questionable for the game.
Though the Bulldogs enter the game without a win, Goode said his squad cannot take Holmes lightly.
Holmes' strength lies in its defense. The Bulldogs are allowing 325 yards per game, but they have forced nine turnovers.
Though the defensive unit has allowed 89 points this season, Goode said the Bulldogs defense doesn't have any glaring weaknesses.
On offense, the Bulldogs have kept the ball on the ground for most of the season.
Holmes is averaging 111.8 rushing yards per game, and the team has notched four rushing touchdowns.
The Lions, who are averaging 135 rushing yards a game, will be looking to diversify their offense against the Bulldogs.
Goode said it is important for the team to start getting yards through the air to be successful the rest of the season.
EMCC is slated to kick off against Holmes at 2 p.m. Saturday.
