Lady Knights take win over West Marion

West Lauderdale held off a last quarter surge by West Marion in the opening round of the Class 3A South State girls basketball tournament on Monday.
The Lady Knights (25-8) snagged a 54-46 road win over Lady Trojans, after entering the fourth quarter holding a 35-25 lead.
West Marion outscored West Lauderdale 21-19 in the final eight minutes, but the Lady Knights did not give up their lead to move onto the next round.
Shannon Lloyd tallied a team-high 15 points for West Lauderdale, and Cierra Jennings scored 13.
The Lady Knights will take on Hazlehurst at 8:30 p.m. Thursday in the second round at Choctaw Central.
