Dr. and Mrs. Joseph Thomas Balzli Jr. of Meridian announce the engagement of their daughter, Sarah Marie, to Christopher Michael Joly, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Leon Joly of Huntsville, Ala.
The wedding will be Saturday, Dec. 27, 2003, at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Meridian.
Miss Balzli is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Billy Franklin Duncan of Meridian; Margaret Balzli Rula of Starkville and the late Joseph Thomas Balzli Sr.
The bride-elect is a 1998 graduate of St. Bernard Preparatory School and received a bachelor's degree in English, with a minor in theology, from the University of Notre Dame. She graduated magna cum laude in 2002.
While attending Notre Dame, she was a member of Sigma Tau Delta English Honorary. She is currently pursuing a master's degree in teaching and elementary education at Spring Hill College, where she is a member of Kappa Delta Pi Education Honorary.
Miss Balzli is currently completing an internship at Corpus Christi Catholic School in Mobile, Ala.
Mr. Joly is the grandson of Pauline Herron Stumpe and the late Calvin Oran Herron, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Alfred John Joly, all of Florence, Ala.
The bridegroom-elect is a 1998 graduate of St. Bernard Preparatory School and received a bachelor's degree in biomedical sciences, with a minor in chemistry, from the University of South Alabama.
While attending college, he was a member of the mortar board. He is currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in nursing from the University of South Alabama School of Nursing.
A reception will be held at the church family life center following the ceremony.
