Local youth stars as soloist

MOBILE – University of Mobile student James Berrian of Phil Campbell, starred as one of eight soloist singing in front of an audience of 1,400 during the UM Center for Performing Arts' production of "Saviour."
Berrian performed alongside the 160-member University Singers choir and 50 orchestra members at the concert on Sept. 27 at Dauphin Way Baptist Church in Mobile.
Berrian, the son of Jim and Gina Berrian of Phil Campbell, is a junior majoring in music education at UM.
The 2005 graduate of Phillips High School is a member of Hines Baptist Church.
Under the direction of Associate Dean of the UM CPA Dr. Al Miller, Saviour is a modern oratorio for full chorus, eight University of Mobile student soloists, and an orchestra composed of UM students. The work is composed by Greg Nelson and Bob Farrell, arranged by David Hamilton with choral settings and orchestration by Ronn Huff.
Nearly 1,600 undergraduate and graduate students are enrolled at the University of Mobile, a private Christian university affiliated with the Alabama Baptist State Convention. The Center for Performing Arts is under the direction of Roger Breland, a member of the Gospel Music Hall of Fame and founder/director for 31 years of the internationally
acclaimed contemporary Christian group Truth.
