PC girls down Mars Hill 37-25

PHIL CAMPBELL – The Phil Campbell junior girls used a swarming defense to beat Mars Hill 37-25 Monday night, while the junior boys teams were swept by the visiting Panthers.
The Lady Bobcats forced 20 Mars Hill turnovers, including seven steals by Whitney Yocum.
Trailing 14-10, Phil Campbell tied the game when Yocum scored on a lay-up and Amber Chaney fed Caden Pruitt for a jumper. Lindsey Jackson hit the front end of a 1-and-1 to give Phil Campbell a 15-14 lead that the Lady Bobcats never relinquished.
Jackson finished with 14 points, 10 rebounds and a block, while Yocum added eight points Pruitt (4), Chaney (4), Taylor Scott (3) and Jessie Halcomb all scored for the Lady Bobcats.
In the "A" boys game, Mars Hill broke open the game in the third quarter with a 14-4 run to win 44-20.
Jake Dill scored a team-high 11 points, while David Elam added seven and Jeremy Reed had two.
In the "B" boys game, Phil Campbell fell 39-24.
Ben Stancil finished with a game-high 13 points, and Cameron Harris added five points. Jay Swinney (4) and Craig Saint (2) also scored for Phil Campbell.
