Patrician Academy stands at 2-0, but will it last? The Saints will find out Friday night if it's real as they take on Jackson Academy for homecoming.
Last week's game brought a very wet 20-0 victory over Warrior and a lot of confidence. The Saint's defense held Warrior to only 78 yards of total offense.
The Saints backfield wore down Warrior all night long and kept control of the game, despite a load of penalties.
Friday night, Jackson Academy comes to town for Patrician's homecoming and a shot at redemption. Last season, Jackson beat Patrician 3-0 in a rough game. The Saints haven't forgotten.
Jackson team can only be described in two words, big and strong, with a good defense, said coach Gibson.
Gibson's Saints are revved up for the challenge. "We like to run a wing T and spread the ball around between rushers," said Gibson. Quarterback Jason Ethridge has two years of starts under his belt as he leads Patrician.
Friday's showdown between Jackson Academy and Patrician is sure to be a ground war worth watching.
Last week's scores were: Choctaw County 12, Southern Choctaw 6; Demopolis 23, Sumter County 0; Greene County 22, Livingston 0; Patrician 20, Warrior 0; Sumter Academy 42, Clarke Prep 13; and South Choctaw Academy 0, Marengo 34.
This Friday's matchups are: Jackson Academy at Patrician, Sumter Academy at Mobile Christian, Clarke Prep at South Choctaw Academy, Jackson at Choctaw County, Bibb County at Livingston, Southern Choctaw at Thomasville, Sumter County at Greene County
