HOWARD REED PIGFORD SR.
Retired chancery judge, U.S. Air Force
Services for Howard Reed Pigford Sr. will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Trinity Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Dr. David Wood officiating. Burial will be in Old Marion Cemetery with James F. Webb Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Pigford, 84, of Livingston, Ala., died Monday, Sept. 24, 2001, in his home. He was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church, where he served as a Sunday school teacher, deacon and elder. He actively practiced law from 1945-87. A graduate of University of Mississippi School of Law, Mr. Pigford was a member of the SAE fraternity. He was admitted to all local, state, national and military courts. He was a former chancery judge in the 10th Judicial District.
Mr. Pigford was a retired lieutenant colonel from the U.S. Air Force. He was a veteran of World War II. Mr. Pigford served as an area liaison officer for the U.S. Air Force Academy. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club.
Survivors include two daughters, Kathleen Pigford Harbour and her husband, Bryan, of Summit and Anne Pigford Luke and her husband, Tom Sr., of Livingston; six grandchildren, Dave Harbour and Steve Harbour, both of McComb, Tom Luke Jr. of Livingston, Reed Pigford of Mobile, Ala., Scott Pigford of Vicksburg and Mark Pigford of Nashville; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Stutner Pigford; a son, Howard Pigford Jr.; his parents, Howard E. and Louise Pigford; and a brother, Joseph E. Pigford.
Visitation will be today from 5:30 p.m.-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
CHARLENE ROSE THOMPSON
CONWAY, S.C. Services for Charlene Rose Thompson will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel, with the Rev. John Hipp officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery.
Mrs. Thompson, 73, a native of Meridian, Miss., died Monday, Sept. 24, 2001, at Conway Hospital.
Survivors include a son, James C. Booth of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a daughter, Joyce B. Burroughs of Conway; five grandchildren; a brother, Jessie Rose Jr. and three sisters, Elsie McKinney, Earline Tate and Mary Glenn Keene, all of Meridian.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Curtis Rose; and a sister, Juanita Schaeffer.
