Children and volunteering.
That's what keeps Martha Hill on the go most days. A native of Houston, she is either tending to her two children, working in the clothes room at Wesley House or helping with the book fair at Poplar Springs Elementary School.
At the family's last post, she worked in a thrift store on base at Cherry Hill, N.C.
She works when she can.
Executive director Nell Grissom said Hill's hours, and the work of other volunteers keep the Wesley House going.
Hill's volunteer work began when she was 14 and she helped in a hospital. She stopped working in 1991 when she started her family.
Her husband, Greg, is a major in the Marine Corps, and is stationed at Naval Air Station Meridian as a instructor pilot. She knows he may one day become involved in the U.S. military response in Afghanistan. But she says that is part of the job.
