OAKLAND, Calif. Even Shannon Sharpe acknowledges that the Baltimore Ravens don't have the typical Super Bowl offense after the Ravens beat the Oakland Raiders 16-3 Sunday to reach the first Super Bowl in the history of the franchise that, until 1996, was the Cleveland Browns. In truth, the offense need to make just one play, a 96-yard pass to Sharpe from Trent Dilfer on a third-and-18 from their own 4-yard line in the second quarter and Baltimore turned the rest of the work over to the defense.
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. Ho-hum. Another NFC championship game at the Meadowlands, another shutout for the New Your Giants. The Giants are heading for their third Super Bowl because their offense was unstoppable and quarterback Kerry Collins was a record-setter in their 41-0 victory.

After Saturday night's upset victory over a strong Newton County team, West Lauderdale was hoping for more of the same Tuesday night when county rival Southeast Lauderdale came calling. And while it wasn't pretty, Clark's Knights did manage to put another game in the win-column as they outlasted the Tigers 41-38 for their seventh win of the 1996-97 campaign Tuesday night.
Kenny Smith tossed in 11 points, and Keith Dilliard and Gerard McCall threw in nine each as the Wildcats of Meridian claimed their 11th win of the season Tuesday night with a narrow 53-51 conquest over home standing Wayne County in prep basketball action.

If there's one thing Mississippi State head football coach Jackie Sherrill should like about his newest recruit, it's dedication. After most high school kids commit to a four-year school, you'd think they would be with their family or out celebrating with a friend. But not Neshoba Central's Chris Richardson. After the Rockets' offensive lineman verbally committed to the Bulldogs on Tuesday, he was where else the weight room.
The Clarkdale Bulldogs rode a barrage of 10 3-point baskets plus a 21 of 29 free throws to a 79-65 district basketball win over Southeast Lauderdale Tuesday night at the Tigers' gym.
The Answer …
Louisville High School won the 1991 4A title game, which was played at Mississippi College, by the score of 6-3 over Stone County. The coach of the Wildcats was Bobby Hall and the man who botted the field goals was Payton Weems.

Teela McBride
Enterprise junior point guard Teela McBride hopes to have a future in college basketball.
What she also needs is more games like the one she had against Clarkdale.
McBride says the Lady Bulldogs are tight because: "We are going to win tonight."
