Local chapter of Phi Delta Kappa to host author seminar-lecture program

The Meridian chapter of Phi Delta Kappa will host Estelle P. Resnik of Mt. Laurel, N.J., today in a 6:30 p.m. seminar-lecture program in the Meridian Room at Meridian Community College.
Resnik's background in education is diverse.
An American Council on Education Fellow in 1989-1990, she has earned masters' degrees in both English and public relations and a doctorate in higher education leadership.
She taught high school English and journalism and advised the high school student newspaper and literary magazine.
A professor of English and journalism for 15 years, she has also served as director of institutional development, director of public relations, director of institutional research, director of assessment planning and dean of faculty.
Her publications include topics from community college finance to women's cross-cultural transitions. Resnik's topic of discussion at the presentation will be "Crossing Cultures: Women's Experiences."
The program will include personal stories of women who have crossed cultural boundaries to find success in the American university and American society.

Phi Delta Kappa is an international professional association for men and women in education.
Members include professionals in the field of education, graduate students preparing for education careers and undergraduates who are enrolled or have successfully completed their student teaching.
Members of Phi Delta Kappa who are already employed in education include classroom teachers, school administrators and college and university professors.
The organization's mission is to promote quality education with an emphasis on publicly supported education as essential to the development and maintenance of a democratic way of life.
