Judy Morgan's Quitman Lady Panthers were looking to settle the score against Dan Stegall and his Northeast Lauderdale Lady Trojans on Tuesday night. The Lady Panthers dropped a one-point decision to the Lady Trojans earlier in the season.
The Lady Panthers would keep the game close in the first half, as the Lady Trojans went into the locker room with a six-point lead. However, Northeast pulled away in the second half to take a 55-35 victory.
Northeast jumped out to an early 13-0 in the first quarter on baskets by Dorecious Powe, Quin Jackson, and Crystal Hopson. Quitman answered back in the second quarter by outscoring the Lady Trojans 18-11 to give Northeast a 26-20 advantage at the half.
Northeast began to pull away in the third quarter by going on a 3-0 run before Quitman was able to get on the scoreboard. However, the Lady Trojans offense proved to be strong, as they outscored Quitman 15-5 to take a 41-25 lead. The Lady Panthers tried to answer back in the fourth on shots by Kemonica McGee, Alicia Bonner, and Shaqulla Mack.
McGee lead the Lady Panthers with 15 points, while Bonner and Mack contributed six apiece.
Northeast was led by Dorecious Powe's 21 and Quin Jackson's 16. The Lady Trojans (2-0 district) will be in action on Thursday in the Enterprise Tournament against Enterprise at 7:00.
