LUFKIN, Texas Services for James Ovett Conn will be held Friday at 10 a.m. in Eastview United Pentecostal Church with the Revs. Leon Wallace, Nathan Scoggins and O.W. Williams officiating. Burial will be in Garden of Memories Memorial Park. Gipson-Metcalf Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Conn, 70, of Lufkin, died Tuesday, April 16, 2002, in Lufkin. He was born in Philadelphia, Miss.
Mr. Conn was employed with Quality Fabrication and Construction of Diboll, Texas. He moved to Lufkin in 1974 from Meridian, where he had served as mailroom foreman for The Meridian Star for 20 years. He was a member of Eastview United Pentecostal Church.
Survivors include his wife, Gladys Aylene Conn of Lufkin; a daughter, Sherry Carnley and her husband, Mark, of Diboll; a granddaughter, Stephanie Wagner and her husband, Dax, of Diboll; great-granddaughters, Michaela, Meghan and Madison Wagner of Diboll; brothers Henry Conn of Pearl, Aubrey Conn and Thomas Conn of Carthage and Jimmy Conn of Van Cleave; sisters, Mary Rushing and Macy Rushing, both of Philadelphia, Carolyn Hart, Becky Adams, Barbara Nelson and Jean Tarpley, all of Van Cleave; and several nieces, nephews and relatives.
Pallbearers will be Stephen Dean, Marcus Dean, Tommy Conn, Johnny Perry, Dax Wagner and Claud Dorman.
Visitation will be today 6 p.m.-9.m. at the funeral home.

BUTLER, Ala. Services for Eugene Turner will be held today at 2 p.m. at Bumpers Funeral Home with the Revs. Grant McClain and Bob Gosey officiating. Burial will be in Hopewell Cemetery in Choctaw County.
Mr. Turner, 75, of Butler, died Tuesday, April 16, 2002, in his home. He was retired from the U.S. Government working in the V.A.
Service Office. He served in the U.S. Air Force.
Survivors include his wife, Adeline Cook Turner of Butler; a daughter, Neida Turner Williams of Butler; a sister, Margaret Turner Taylor of Silas; a brother, Douglas Turner of Needham; and a grandson, Shawn E. Williams of Butler.
GEORGIA MAE OGBURN
Missionary
Services for Georgia Mae Ogburn will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Meridian with the Revs. Dr. Raymon Leake and Dr. Beverly Tinnin officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. James F. Webb Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Miss Ogburn, 91, of Meridian, died Sunday, April 14, 2002, at Queen City Nursing Home. She was a graduate of Blue Mountain College and Woman's Missionary Training School in Louisville, Ky.
In 1940 she was appointed by the Foreign Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention as a missionary to Chile, where she served for 36 years. She was the organizer and first director of the Women's Bible Institute in Santiago and then became executive director of the Baptist Women's Missionary Union of Chile.
In April 1976, Miss Ogburn was awarded the Bernardo O'Higgins Award for her work she did with women and youth in Chile. This is the highest award given by the Chilean government to one who is not a citizen of that country.
Survivors include several nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Julia Ogburn; two brothers, Alex and Georgia Jr.; and three sisters, Mrs. Ross, Mrs. Roy Thrash and Eleanor Green.
Pallbearers will be Wayne Bagley, Vince Barber, Dr. Harry Causey, Jonathan Hill, Bob Jeffares, Owen Jones, J.T. Northam and Fred Poitevent.
Memorials may be sent to a mission cause of choice or to the WMU Foundation, P.O. Box 11346, Birmingham, AL 35282-8564, designated for WMU work in Chile.
Visitation will be today 5 p.m.-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
