Cadet Brandon Aaron Deeb has made the 2002 Summerall Guards, an elite silent drill platoon at The Citadel in Charleston, S.C.
The Summerall Guards' first performance was March 16, during Corps Day Weekend.
The Summerall Guards exemplify the skill and precision of military education. Its 61 members are rising seniors who have earned a place on the platoon through rigid competition each spring.
Guard members are selected by outgoing members, based on their physical stamina and drill proficiency. Membership in the platoon is considered a high honor at the college.
A widely traveled drill unit, the Summerall Guards have participated in parades and ceremonies throughout the country including the St. Patrick's Day parade in Savannah, Ga.; the Azalea Festival in Wilmington, N.C.; and the United States Presidential inaugural parade.
The platoon is named for General Charles P. Summerall, former chief of staff of the U.S. Army and president of The Citadel from 1931 until 1953.
Deeb is the son of David Deeb of Meridian and Anjenette Milligan of Florence, S.C.
