Meridian police say an attempted armed robbery was thwarted Wednesday night by clerks at Jack's Package Store.
The alleged robber, 22-year-old Frederick T. Graves, was in custody today at the Meridian Police Department. Patrol officers arrested him shortly after the incident, which occurred about 9:30 p.m.
Detective Deano Harper, a spokesman for the Meridian Police Department, said the suspect entered the store brandishing a handgun. He would not elaborate on the actions taken by the store clerks, but said a witness was also helpful to the investigation.
Harper said there are outstanding felony theft warrants against Graves with the Jackson Police Department and the Simpson County Sheriff's Department.
Graves was being held on $15,000 bond.
