SILAS, Ala. The Southern Choctaw Indians' road to a three-peat in Class 2A continues after last week's 21-14 defeat at home of Randolph County.
The Indians spotted Randolph six points before reeling off 21 unanswered points. The first score came on a 28-yard touchdown pass from Indian quarterback Bernard McGrew to Detric Causey.
After a Tiger fumble, Southern Choctaw got a 47-yard TD jaunt from Marcus Lewis. The two-point pass was good and the Indians owned the 15-6 lead.
SCHS ended the scoring with a pass from McGrew to Marquez Hill. The PAT failed, before the Tigers added a touchdown and extra point with 15 seconds to go in the game.
They will do so when they travel to take on the Straughn Tigers (10-1) Friday night at 7 p.m.
Straughn's lone loss came to Class 3A Washington County, 50-48, in the third week of the season. The Tigers have played four schools that made the playoffs, three of which are still playing.
Should the Indians keep their playoff run alive, they will play the winner of Greene County and Houston County, and Boykin hopes HCHS can post the upset.
GCHS has also turned heads by earlier blasting Lineville 46-6, a team that has faced Southern Choctaw the past two years in the championship game.
