OBITUARIES FOR SUNDAY, JAN. 7, 2001

MARCUS "RAY" LEE
PENSACOLA, Fla. Services for Marcus "Ray" Lee will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Faith Chapel Funeral Home with burial in Barrancas National Cemetery with full military honors.
Mr. Lee, 70, of Pensacola, died Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2001, at Sacred Heart Hospital. He was a native of Meridian and had resided in Pensacola for the past eight and one-half years. He retired from the U.S. Navy after 20 years and delivered The Meridian Star for 11 years while residing in Meridian.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Johnnie Aileen Lee; two sons, Marcus R. Lee Jr. and James C. Lee; two daughters, Loretta Nipper and Linda L. Horton; and 11 grandchildren.
Visitation will be today from 3-5 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family requests memorials be made to Gideons International for Bibles.
ANN B. SPEED
Services for Ann B. Speed will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Central United Methodist Church with the Revs. Tommy D. Gilbert and Charles W. "Nick" Nicholson Sr. officiating with special music by Liz Marchese as vocalist. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery with Stephens Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Speed, 84, of Meridian, died Saturday, Jan. 6, 2001.
Survivors include a son, Marvin B. "Marc" Speed and his wife, Kelli; her daughter-in-law, Susan Speed of Meridian; a brother, Preston P. "Pep" Bennett and his wife, Gene Elizabeth of Clarksdale; sisters-in-law, Jane H. Bennett and Elsie V. Bennett; seven grandchildren, Celia S. Boisfontaine and her husband, Curt, Margaret Speed, James Thomas "Tom" Speed Jr. and his wife, Elizabeth, S. Carter Speed, and his wife, Lea, Holley G. Speed, Susannah B. Speed and Preston R. "Pep" Speed; two great-grandchildren, Mary Ferral Boisfontaine and Carter Rich Boisfontaine; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. James Bennett and Annie Hackett Bennett; her brothers, John D. Bennett, James Bennett Jr., Dr. Hackett Bennett and Gardner Bennett; her husband, J.M. "Buck" Speed; her stepson, James T. "Jim" Speed and his wife, Mary Carter Speed.
Visitation will be today from 3-5 p.m. at the funeral home.
Pallbearers include James Bennett III, Thomas G. Bennett, James H. Bennett, Wade Richard Bennett, Dr. John Paul Lee, Jerry S. Lee, David F. Speed, John P. Speed, Frank W. Bowen Jr., Jack J. Mann Jr. and James E. Smith Jr.
DR. J.W. PRICE
Retired dentist
Services for Dr. J.W. Price will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at Barham Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Ken Patterson officiating. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery.
Dr. Price, 80, of Meridian, died Saturday, Jan. 6, 2001, at his residence.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Junie Johnston Price, of Meridian; two daughters, Ingrid Price and her husband, Carroll, of Meridian, and Glenda Pruett and her husband, Wayne, of Oxford; a son, Rick Price and his wife, Elise, of Lawrenceville, Ga.; a brother, Marzine Price of Dixon; seven grandchildren, Shannon Cleveland and her husband, Mike, Chris Price and his wife, Dee Dee, C.W., Francie and Kaytee Pruett, and Laura and Sarah Price; and two great-grandchildren, Hannah and Sierra Cleveland.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Katie Price, and a brother, Howard Price.
Visitation will be today from 3-5 p.m. and Monday from 1 p.m. until services at the funeral home.
Pallbearers include Christopher Price, C.W. Pruett, Mike Cleveland, L.N. Rhodes, Bobby Price and Kem McEntyre. Honorary pallbearers include Luther Price, Philip Price and Charlie Bancroft.
CLAUDIE MAE TURNER

BUTLER, Ala. Services for Claudie Mae Turner will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at Bumpers Funeral Home chapel with the Revs. James Irby and Hal Taylor officiating. Burial will be in Brightwater Cemetery.
Mrs. Turner, 72, of Needham, died Thursday, Jan. 4, 2001, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center in Meridian.
Survivors include her husband, A.G. Turner of Needham; a daughter, Shirley Southern of Purvis; a son, David Turner of Needham; six sisters, Brenda Adair of Rockmart, Ga., Shirley Faye Benson of Collinsville, Miss., Shelby Carmichael, Mae Jewel Miller and Willowdean Williams, all of Quitman, Miss., and Linda Taylor of Nanafalia.
Visitation will be today from 6-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
LINZY H. GRESSETT
MOBILE, Ala Graveside services for Linzy H. Gressett will be held Monday at noon at Blue Springs Cemetery in Chunky, Miss., with Radney-Balmany Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Gressett, 79, of Mobile, died Saturday, Jan. 6, 2001, at a local hospital.
Survivors include his wife, Ileen Woodard Gressett of Mobile; a daughter, Lisa Rico and her husband, Richard, of Vacaville, Calif.; a sister, Janet Rogers of Chunky; a brother, Thurman Gressett of Meridian, Miss.; three sisters-in-laws, Ruth Gressett of Mobile, Opal Gressett of Fayetville, Ga., and Lucille Gressett of Chunky; and a granddaughter, Jennifer Hatin of Santa Rosa, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Troop and Nancy Emma Gressett; three brothers, George Gressett, Opie Gressett and Odie Gressett; two sisters, Bessie Dean and Grace Graham.
Visitation will be today from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family requests memorials be made to the Abba Temple Shrine Transportation Fund.
