MARTIN Rescue workers say luck was with an elderly Meridian man who early Friday morning fell from a deer stand and lay in the woods for nearly seven hours before he was found by friends.
Eighty-four-year-old Albert Russell remained in intensive care at Rush Foundation Hospital Friday night, receiving treatment for injuries he suffered after falling about 15 feet from a tree where his deer stand was positioned.
Russell was taken to Rush by Metro Ambulance.
Minyard said Russell reportedly began his hunting trip about 8 a.m. Friday. He said the man told rescue workers the accident happened just after he got to his deer stand.
