East Central booted from South State

The East Central Community College basketball teams were swept out of the the South Division Tournament at Summitt Monday night.
The Lady Warriors were sent packing by virtue of a shocking 69-64 upset at the hands of the Hinds Community College Lady Eagles, while the East Central men dropped a 98-79 decision to Copiah-Lincoln.
Hinds 69, East Central women 64: Nationally-ranked ECCC was ahead by nine points late in the contest but couldn't hold on as the Lady Eagles notched the stunning win on the campus of Southwest Mississippi Community College.
Southern Mississippi signee Anna Udicova pumped in 17 points in defeat for East Central, while former Louisville standout Margo Porter added 14 in the loss.
Nicole Cox of Lake scored 10, Alberta Norman of Newton scored nine and freshman guard Sophia Reed of Forest had eight points for East Central, which dropped to 19-5 on the season.
East Central led 37-32 at halftime.
Copiah-Lincoln 98, East Central men 79: Co-Lin extended a slim one-point halftime lead and held on for the victory over the Warriors, who fell to 12-14 on the season.
Copiah-Lincoln's Wolves are now 19-5 on the year.
The Warriors (12-14) got 22 points from former Louisville standout Winfred Craig and 17 from ex-Choctaw Central star James Denson.
Former Newton County Academy standout Matthew Roebuck pumped in 11 points for ECCC, as did Markeith Brown.
North State Tournament: Both of the teams from East Mississippi Community College will be in action today in the North Division tournament at Northwest CC in Senatobia.
The Lady Lions of EMCC take on Northeast at 4 p.m., while the East Mississippi men battle Northeast's Tigers at 8 p.m.
