Forty students took honors at the Meridian Public School District's third annual reading fair, held Friday at Mississippi State University-Meridian Campus. The fair consisted of 188 reading projects, and involved over 200 children from all the Meridian schools.
The children had first to win their individual school reading fairs to be entered in the districtwide fair. The judges consisted of school officials who determined individual and group winners in seven age categories. The first-place winner of each group will advance to the regional reading fair to be held in April.
Carol Owen, librarian of Meridian High School, organized the reading fair and presented awards to the children with Superintendent Dr. Janet McLin.
