Too wet to play outside? Go Bowling

A wet February has come and gone, and March has come in with rain every day and more to come.
That makes it rough on outdoor activities, so what a great time to visit your hometown bowling center and try your hand at this great game. It's a game you can do by yourself or with a bunch of friends or the family. As they say, give it a try you might like it. We believe you will. Dixie Bowl is located at 3510 North Hills Street. For more information call 483-2283.
We have just posted the flyers for Stan's eight-game sweeper to be held at Dixie Bowl on March 18th at 11 a.m. Check-in starts at 10:15. There are two divisions one scratch and one handicap. If you like to bowl scratch, we've got it and if you like to handicap, we've got that too. There is a $500 first place prize in each division. Make plans to be with us that day.
Ladies, your state entrants close March 11 while your city closes on March 15. Men, your state closes March 21 with your city open all the way. These are tournaments every league bowler should support.
While we are on the topic of tournaments, we have a big one coming up May 12 to raise money for our youth program. It will be a no-tap. We will also have some of the greatest door prizes you have ever seen. This will be a great day to be at Dixie Bowl. Bob Davis will be running the show and will have prizes you will want to win, so mark that date on your calendar.
Now we will go to the high scores.
Jim Broderick Jr.'s 289 game and M.A. Copeland's 737 series were high for the week in Wednesday Mix. Sheila Dearman took the honor for ladies with a 267/637. That new ball is working!
In Queen City James Bloomer rolled a 278/730. In Dixie Belles Nita Fike had a 217 and Janie Tisdale had a 609. In Ball and Chain J.R. Phillips rolled a 265 and Ron Coleman had a 714. For the ladies, Billie Coleman had a 256/607.
In senior league, Randell Palmer had a 226 and Larry Hattell had a 607. For the ladies Lou Timms had a 205/549. In Monday Nighters Robert Brown had a 244 and JJ Gaines a 626. For the ladies, Janie Tisdale had a 223/561.
In Hucklebuck Randy Rives had a 269/725. In Tuesday Mix, Mark Kilgore had a 248/672 and Sandra Joiner had a 213/586. In Bowlerette Sue Kirkpatrick had a 215 and Jane Gibson a 566.
In Northwood, Lisa Sessions had a 161 and Patty Smith had a 445. In Funtime Youth, Will Fike had a 214 and Dustin Gray had a 566. In MCC, Scott Elliott had a 203/575 and Claudia Elliott had a 150/430.
We will close by saying if you have not tried your hand at bowling you might be missing your calling, so visit and enjoy the game.
