Services for Irma Lucille Garrett will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Stephens Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mike Russell officiating. Burial will be in Long Creek Cemetery.
Mrs. Garrett, 90, of Meridian, died Sunday, April 22, 2001, at Queen City Nursing Home. She was a member of Oakland Heights Baptist Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Virginia Moody and her husband, Richard, and Joan Clay, all of Meridian, and Wanza Tolbert of Philadelphia; two stepdaughters, Juanita Garrett of Starkville and Frances Sevigny of Portland, Ore.; grandchildren and spouses, Ken and Gina Clay, Chris Bynum, Eddie and Lisa Bynum, all of Meridian, Andy and Tina Clay of Fort Worth, Texas, Brenda Clay of Hickory, Cindy and Craig Anderson of Edgewater, Fla.; Tracy and Delisa Bynum of Philadelphia, Babette and Randy Coats of Warner Robbins, Ga., Sonia and Ken Busby of Brandon and Heather and Trey Harper of Atlanta; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Ken Clay, Andy Clay, Eddie Bynum, Tracy Bynum, Trey Harper, Randy Coats, Ken Busby and Tommy Bynum.
Visitation will be today from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
WARREN LAMAR BLAIR

QUITMAN Warren Lamar Blair died on Monday, April 23, 2001. He was born in Shubuta on January 14, 1922, to his parents W.E. Blair and Ada Tabitha Crosby Blair. He was a native of Clarke County and a life-long resident of Quitman. He graduated from Quitman High School and attended the University of Mississippi in Oxford. In August, 1941, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was very proud of his service as a Marine, serving in San Francisco, at Wallace Island in the Pacific, and in the Aleutian Islands until the war ended in 1945. On May 27, 1944, Warren married Barbara Anne Rasmussen from Mt. Pleasant, Utah. They had met in San Francisco. After the war, in 1946, Warren and Barbara returned to Quitman where he went to work with his father and brothers at W.E. Blair's Store. He went to night school at Meridian Junior College and earned an Associates Business degree. In 1959, Warren and his brothers Joe and Jim formed a partnership, Blair's Store, where he worked until his retirement in 1986. During the 1960's, Warren served as a trustee on the Quitman Consolidated School Board. He loved history all his life and during the 1970-80's, he did extensive genealogy research on both his parent's families. He was a life-long member of the First Baptist Church of Quitman.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Elizabeth, his wife Barbara Anne Rasmussen Blair and his second wife of five years, Sadie Cooper Martin Blair. He is survived by his daughter Chris Buffington and her husband, Bob, of Plano, Texas; grandchildren, Kevin and his wife, Carin, Amy, and Tara Buffington, Blair, West, Ben, John and Mary Bess Wilson, Rachel, Allie, Salvo and Estelle Blair; a daughter, Anne Wilson and her husband, Jett, of Corinth; a son, Bill Blair of Jackson; a sister, Sybil Johnson and her husband, Dick, of Knoxville, Tenn.; two brothers, Joe and his wife, Faye, and Jim and his wife, June, all of Quitman; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at Wright's Funeral Home in Quitman Wednesday at 11 a.m. The family will receive visitors from 6 -8 p.m. today. The Revs. Grady Crowell and Gene Neal will be officiating. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery.
LESLIE BARRETT

Services for Leslie Barrett will be held Thursday at 3 p.m. at Berry and Gardner Funeral Home with the Rev. David Lee Simmons officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Barrett, 85, of Meridian, died Friday, April 20, 2001, in his home.
Survivors include his wife, Mattie Kennedy Barrett of Meridian; three daughters, Mary Cotton of Atlanta, Betty Forbes of Meridian and Carolyn Young of Forest Wayne, Ind.; three sons, Able Barrett and Clarence David Barrett, both of Meridian and Ronnie Lockhart of Newton; 22 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and 30 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 6-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
