Lauderdale County has about 120 Relay for Life teams, but Chairman Betty Lou Jones said Thursday there is still time to form new teams and get involved in the American Cancer Society.
Jones addressed team captains during a meeting Thursday at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center. Teams were updated on plans for the Relay For Life event to be held June 8-9 at Meridian High School's Ray Stadium.
Information was passed along to teams about efforts to post information on their fund-raisers on a Web page. Teams can e-mail fund-raiser information to Teri Smith at Myhalo1916@yahoo.com or fax the information to her at 693-2591. Organizers plan to update the site daily.
Teams were also given a list of incentive prizes. Each team member who raises the minimum required $100 will receive a Relay T-shirt. Larger prizes include digital stereo headphones for those raising $350 and a Jensen personal CD player with AM/FM radio for team members raising $750.
Participants who earn $1,000 or more will be able to choose between a portable gas grill or a bike. Earners of $3,500 will choose between a 19-inch color television or a zoom camera. Volunteers who bring in as much as $5,000 will have a choice between a DVD player or a digital camera.
Last year's Relay for Life raised about $312,000.

Teams must consist of 10-15 members and pay a $100 commitment fee.
