Briarwood to host MWGA Girls State Am

The Mississippi Women's Golf Association will be hosting the 2001 Girls State Amateur Championship at Briarwood Country Club Tuesday and Wednesday.
Registration will last from noon today until 3 p.m. A complimentary practice round can be played after noon.

Buddy McGhee winners: The six-man team of Allen Kimbrell, David Hopper, Tommy Little, Lamar Arrington, Randy Pool, and Judge Little captured the Buddy McGhee Six-Person Scramble this weekend at Briarwood Country Club.
Second place went to the team of Rodney Scarborough, Henry Entrekin, Ken Densmore, Hagen Scarborough, Sammy Broadhead, and Tim Hogan.
The team of Butch Shannon, Grady Coleman, J.T. Williamson, Leigh Phillips, Rob Autry, and Tootie Ellis took third place.
Ivy wins at Pros of Tomorrow: Joshua Ivy of Quitman shot a 79 the first day followed by a 74 in the final round to win first place in the 12-13 age group in the prestigious Pros of Tomorrow tournament held last week at Tupelo Country Club with a 36-hole total of 153.
Tyler Martin of Ruston, La., finished second with a 77-78-155.
Brok Hollingshead of Meridian shot an 83-88-171 to finish in a tie for 12th place.
Over 130 players from across the southeastern United States played in the event.
Bill Davis tourney this weekend: Northwood Country Club will host the Bill Davis-Fourth of July Tournament, Friday-Sunday. Entry fee is $375 per team with the field for the medal play event limited to 96 teams. Tee times are 8:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. each day. Play the Rabbit: Dancing Rabbit Golf Club and Silver Star Hotel and Casino are offering a premium golf package good through Sept. 30.
